SO GUESS WHAT?


'HELLO. HOW ARE YOU. AND DID YOU BRING CRICKETS?'

So sorry, but these pics were all taken with my phone, as my digital camera seems to have gone on vacation without leaving a note. I think that's more commonly known as running away, but I'm hoping it's actually just buried under the much-needs-to-be-done-asap pile of laundry that is slowly but surely fighting it's way out of my closet.

Meet Starbuck! Or that's the working name, anyway, until he/she is old enough for us to figure out which it actually is. For the sake of simplicity, we're assuming it's a he. And he is a feisty, tenacious, hungry little beast. I've had plenty of snakes before, but I had no idea how often to feed a bearded dragon, so I did the smart thing, and asked a reptile specialist: he told me, 'Babies often eat 3-5 crickets a day (in addition to leafy foods and mealworms), but don't worry about over-feeding him. He'll stop eating when he's full.' So far, the latter part has been pretty accurate. But this monster eats a minimum of eight crickets a day, and as many as twelve or more if we let him.

Good thing is, as he's only 6 1/2" long at the moment, reptiles in general grow as fast as they eat, quite literally: so at this rate, he'll be past the delicate hatchling stage and be onto a healthy juvenile in a month or two. Because he is a PIG.



In Other News...

My Autumn Sentinel got picked for the Art Contest up at SCCC! And on Wednesday the 28th I get to find out if I'm in the top three picks, which means cold-hard cash *evil cackle* ... but really, I'm so excited because it's the first time I've had the guts to enter anything into a contest, much less a contest that only chooses 40 entries out of however many were actually submitted--so yay! I actually picked up some oil paints to dabble with, too, because as much fun as watercolour is, I've been itching to experiment.

And speaking of itching, I have to get on that Big-Bang project, I'm supposed to have two completed drawings by the end of the month--ahhhhh!
